Phandar Valley Tour
Overview & Mountain Character
“A tranquil exploration through Ghizer district to the cobalt waters of Phandar Lake, renowned for golden autumn leaves, fresh trout streams, and rolling mountain vistas.”
Nestled in the western valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan, Phandar Valley represents one of northern Pakistan's most picturesque hidden jewels. During the autumn months, the basin transforms into a vivid palette of amber, ochre, and crimson foliage set beside crystal-clear river currents and serene blue waters. Guests can ramble through welcoming highland villages, observe traditional rural life, and take advantage of exceptional landscape photography settings. It offers an ideal circuit for leisure walkers, photographers, and travelers looking for alpine tranquility well away from standard tourist highways.

Set out on the road north following the Karakoram Highway toward Besham, tracking the winding gorge of the Indus River as green sub-Himalayan hills shift into arid rock country.
Proceed along the engineering marvel of the Karakoram Highway toward Gilgit, experiencing deep river gorges, sheer canyon walls, and rugged terrain.
Drive northward from Gilgit to the historic town of Karimabad in the Hunza Valley, taking in immediate panoramas of Rakaposhi and surrounding snow-capped summits.
Spend the day discovering the cultural heritage of the valley by visiting the multi-century-old Baltit and Altit Forts, followed by an evening trip to Duiker for a spectacular sunset above the mountain range.
Travel further north past the striking turquoise waters of Attabad Lake toward Borith Lake and the hamlet of Passu, celebrated for the Passu Cones and adjacent glacier systems.
Ascend by highway to the border crest of Khunjerab Pass at 4,733m, exploring the high-altitude plateau before returning down to the frontier post of Sost for the night.
Leave the main highway and drive westward through Gupis into the peaceful Ghizer District, entering the idyllic pastoral basin and winding lakes of Phandar.
Spend a peaceful morning walking alongside Phandar's turquoise pools and meadows before embarking on the scenic road trip eastward back to Gilgit.
Drive south to Raikot Bridge, board mountain jeeps to Tato, and complete a forest hike up to Fairy Meadows for unobstructed views of Nanga Parbat.
Hike down to the trailhead, transfer across Raikot Bridge, and proceed along the Karakoram Highway toward Besham for an overnight stop.
