K7 Charakusa Valley Hushe
Overview & Mountain Character
“An expedition into the granite-walled bastion of Charakusa Valley to approach K7, revered globally for its monumental vertical big-wall and alpine ice faces.”
Towering above the upper reaches of Hushe village in Gilgit-Baltistan, K7 (6,934m) stands as an elite alpine climbing objective in the central Karakoram. The mountain is internationally acclaimed for sheer granite monoliths, highlighted by one of the sheerest and most expansive clean rock precipices on the planet. Flanked by high-caliber Karakoram peaks including K6 (7,281m), Link Sar (7,041m), and Drifika (6,650m), the Charakusa cirque presents exceptional ground for technical rock, mixed, and ice pursuits. Approaching K7 demands experienced alpine travelers seeking committing routes in an isolated, high-mountain arena.

Route Timeline & Rotation Plan
Touch down at Islamabad International Airport, receive an escorted greeting by our logistics coordinator, and transfer to the group hotel. The rest of the day is allocated to rest, equipment checks, and adjusting after long flights.
Transfer to the airport for the mountain flight to Skardu. In case inclement weather interrupts domestic flights, embark on the overland road route along the Karakoram Highway to Chilas for overnight lodging.
Air arrivals spend the day touring historical sites and completing mountain provisioning in Skardu. Overland participants complete the scenic river drive from Chilas along the Indus gorge to reach town.
Depart Skardu by 4x4 jeep through the Shyok basin and into Hushe Valley, passing traditional stone hamlets to arrive at Hushe, the roadhead village fronting the Charakusa wilderness.
Initiate the trek from Hushe village, traversing past terraced fields to set up camp at Shaicho, tucked at the scenic meeting point of the Charakusa and Gondogoro river corridors.
Ascend upward along lateral moraines toward the alpine pastures of Spangser. The trek opens up dramatic sightlines of towering granite needles, providing essential elevation conditioning.
Push into the heart of the Charakusa amphitheater to reach the shared K6 and K7 Base Camp. Spend two days acclimatizing, surveying technical big-wall lines, and exploring high glacial moraines beneath massive vertical walls.
Pack base camp and begin retracing footsteps downhill through the alpine pastures and rocky paths of the Charakusa Valley back to the riverside camp at Shaicho.
Complete the 4-hour walk back to Hushe village. Board waiting 4x4 jeeps for the road transfer across the valley back to Skardu for a hot shower, rest, and celebration dinner.
Transfer to Skardu airport for the scheduled domestic flight to the capital. Should flight schedules cancel, commence the overland journey south to Chilas.
Overland travelers complete the final driving leg along the Karakoram Highway from Chilas, reaching Islamabad by late afternoon.
Coordinated transfer to Islamabad International Airport for scheduled homeward flights, concluding the K7 Charakusa Valley Hushe expedition. End of services.
