Route Timeline & Rotation Plan
Arrive at Islamabad International Airport where our mountain expedition team greets you and handles private transport to your hotel. Use the day to unwind from long flights before gathering in the evening for an operational briefing on the Trango Tower ascent, followed by a hosted dinner. Optional capital city highlights available time permitting.
Take the 45-minute flight north to Skardu across the Karakoram ranges, providing aerial views of Nanga Parbat and K2. After hotel check-in, spend the afternoon browsing regional markets and touring the 8th-century Manthal Buddha Rock carving. (Overland transfer to Chilas via the KKH if flight is suspended due to weather).
Climb up to the historic 18th-century Kharpocho Fort for panoramas over the Indus basin, followed by a walk through the Organic Village. The afternoon remains reserved for final gear tuning, porter load allocations, or an optional side-drive to Satpara Lake.
Embark on an 8-hour 4x4 drive tracing the Indus, Shigar, and Braldu river gorges to Askole. After coordinating with our porter crew, continue past Korofong toward Jhola camp along the snout of the Biafo Glacier to pitch camp under the stars.
Begin foot travel along the Braldu River for a 6-hour trek toward Paiju. Cross several glacial outwash channels while admiring Paiju Peak (6,611m), arriving at the willow-shaded oasis of Paiju camp with opening views of the Baltoro Glacier and Trango spires.
Ascend onto the moraine-covered ice of the Baltoro Glacier. Branch left off the main artery toward the foot of the Trango group on an 8-hour trek, establishing Base Camp directly below the soaring vertical granite faces with views of Uli Biaho Tower and Gasherbrum IV.
A dedicated 26-day climbing period for self-directed big-wall operations on Trango Tower. Tasks include gear hauling, setting portaledges, fixing lines, and staging summit bids, with full base camp catering, communication, and logistical support provided by our team.
Dismantle wall camps and pack down equipment, trekking 6 hours back down the Baltoro Glacier past the Liligo moraine and roaring meltwater cascades to the greenery and comfortable elevation of Paiju camp.
Set off early on a 7-hour descent following the Braldu River downstream to Jhola. Celebrate the completion of mountain objectives with the local porter crew in camp, sharing customary tips and equipment distributions.
Rejoin 4x4 jeeps at Jhola for an 8-hour drive descending through the fertile Shigar Valley back to Skardu, crossing suspension bridges to reach town for hot showers and comfortable hotel amenities.
Take the morning return flight from Skardu to Islamabad with a final aerial view of Nanga Parbat. Transfer to the hotel with the afternoon open for independent sightseeing and shopping. (Drive to Chilas overland in case of weather delays).
A built-in buffer day to accommodate potential overland driving from Skardu. If already in Islamabad, enjoy city tours to Faisal Mosque, viewpoints, and markets, concluding with an evening team celebration dinner.
Transfer to Islamabad International Airport after breakfast for scheduled international flights home, marking the conclusion of the Trango Tower expedition.
